Dear Friends,
When I think back to The Denan Project’s humble beginnings just over 20 years ago, I can hardly believe how far we have come and how much we have accomplished. Our original goal of raising the funds needed to furnish the all but forgotten Ethiopian village of Denan with a doctor and medical supplies for one year, seemed daunting. However, generous donors like you stepped forward to help. In September 2024, our now fully equipped 44-room hospital that began as a tiny two-room clinic became self-sustaining, a goal that every non-profit strives for but rarely achieves. Our long-term investment in Denan along with the help of our Ethiopian partner, Organization for Welfare and Development in Action (OWDA) and the Ethiopian government, made this possible. The hospital continues to serve between 2,500 and 4,000 patients each month and the healthcare provided continues to be completely free.
As our tiny clinic grew so did our aspirations for helping people in need. Through perseverance and careful planning, we have taken what we learned in Denan and applied it to other projects in Peru and Mongolia. On May 1st of this year our health center in Uratari, Peru also became self-sustaining when Red Norte, the local Ministry of Health, took the helm of our operations in Uratari. We have now turned our efforts to Cusibamba, another impoverished village in a different area of the high Andes.
In Mongolia our program continues to grow encompassing two hospitals in Tariat and Erdenmandal in the Province of Arkhangal, the main hospital of Chandmani in the Province of Gobi Altai and the new dental clinic we just established at the hospital in Tudevtei in Zavkhan Province.
The Denan Project continues to be solely run by a group of dedicated volunteers who pay for all operating expenses including travel expenses associated with their visits to monitor project sites. This ensures that every penny raised goes to the benefit of the people we serve.
None of what we accomplished would have been possible without your thoughtfulness and generosity. We hope you will help us spread the word about the important mission of The Denan Project. With your assistance, we have made the lives of tens of thousands of desperate people much better and their future a lot brighter. Thank you for all your past support and we humbly ask that you consider The Denan Project in your 2024 charitable giving plans.
On behalf of all our volunteers, with deepest gratitude and heartfelt thanks,

President/Founder, The Denan Project
